I'm elated that today I finally managed to finish reading the book 'The Fred Factor' by Mark Sanborn. It took me eight months to finish this book (well sorta...). It seems to be a long time right, top finish a book that is about 112 pages long..hehe. But truth be told, I didn't actually spend the whole eight months reading the seriously. Most of the time, after reading a few paragraphs, the world suddenly became pitch black. Suffice to say that this book is as good as any sleeping pills out there.
With all due respect, it is not totally a boring book. I admit that there are some interesting things that I have learnt. First and foremost, it has made me think of ways in which I can become a 'Fred'. Gladly, it doesn't require me to undergo any massive surgery to achieve this as anyone can be a Fred, regardless of sex, age and political inclinations :) So let me define a 'Fred'. A Fred is a person who "takes pride in his/her work and turn the ordinary into the extra ordinary". Hemm...an interesting definition. I've lived my life as 'ordinary' as I could for as long as I can remember, ever content of achieving 'average' results for anything. I guess that I am afraid of aiming high for fear of failure or disappointments. "Cukup makan". Hence, I am only a 'half-Fred'. So I this book has triggered a need to find the other half of me, the missing link, the other half-Fred, to complete my transformation. I don't know how long it takes for me to find 'her' but in the process, I will adopt some Fred-like behaviours such as being more polite, friendly and helpful to other people. Small acts which if accumulated, can make a big difference ;)
Good day to you!
